This Thanksgiving, a familiar part of Perry Farm Park will look a little different after dark. For the first time, the barns and pastures surrounding the farm will become the setting for A Light Walk at Perry Farm Park, a new holiday event presented by the Friends of the Bourbonnais Township Park District Foundation. Visitors will walk through a tunnel of lights before making their way past illuminated barns and lighted displays created by local businesses, organizations, artists and families.
A Light Walk at Perry Farm Park opens Thanksgiving evening, Thursday, Nov. 26, and will continue through Jan. 3 at Perry Farm Park, 459 N. Kennedy Drive in Bourbonnais. This event is free and open to the public. The Foundation is inviting businesses, organizations, artists, and families to create lighted displays throughout the pastures, allowing the walk to take shape. Green Pro Services of Kankakee has signed on as the presenting sponsor and will assist with lighting the barn rooflines, electrical needs and installation throughout the walk.
“We have held a lot of events at Perry Farm over the years, but we have never done anything quite like this,” said Mike O’Shea, executive director of the Bourbonnais Township Park District. “People know the farm and the barns, but seeing that area lit up at night will be completely different. We are excited to see what the community creates and watch this grow into a holiday tradition.”
“Perry Farm is a place many of us grew up visiting with our families, so this was a project we wanted to be part of,” said Jeremiah Green, co-owner of Green Pro Services. “When the Foundation told us what they wanted to build out there, we wanted to be part of this! Our crew hangs lights all winter anyway. Getting to do it for a park that means this much to Bourbonnais is a good way to spend a few of those days.”
