What's New at the District?

Exploration Station will be closed for it's Annual Shutdown August 25-September 8
It that time of year for the children's museum to shutdown for two weeks for cleaning, repairs and updates to our exhibits. The museum will shutdown starting Monday August 25 and will remain closed through Monday September 8. Exploration Station will re-open with regular hours on Tuesday, September 9, 2008.

It’s Our River Day
Celebrate the Kankakee and all Illinois rivers in this statewide event with recreational, conservational and educational activities. Join us for a river clean-up, observe biologists as they conduct a river study, and see the fish and invertebrates that make their home in the Kankakee River. Children can also participate in the River Day Poster Contest.

Ages: All Ages; children must be accompanied by an adult

Check out this new program all about the art of composting and how it can benefit your flower or vegetable garden. Presenter Sandy Ascot will be at the Willowhaven Interpretive Center on Sunday, September 28 to share gardening secrets like how to have fewer weeds and more productive vegetable gardens.
