social, cultural and economic diversity of the Bourbonnais Township
is recognized as a strength to improve the community through Park
District operations.

to achieve the goals of the District. The District also cooperates
with both the public and private agencies to further its mission
and improve the community.

through parks, recreation, educational programs, facilities and
services.

District will do whatever it takes to assure the satisfaction of every

- Open Space,
Trails, and Greenways
- The District
envisions a community that is easily accessible by pedestrian, cycling,
boating and vehicular traffic from park to park locations and the
Kankakee River by maintained trails through greenway acquisitions
or lease and development. The acquisition and recreation development
of open space is a high priority as existing agricultural lands
are transformed into residential, industrial and commercial developments.
The preservation of existing historical and natural areas are equally
important.
Communication
All
communications between the board, staff, and the community are proactive,
clear and accurate.
- Community
Input
- The District
utilizes formal and informal methods of gathering input from residents,
participants and visitors through surveys, public meetings, group
presentations and individual discussions. This input is shared and
relayed back to the community through official District communications,
and utilized in making public decisions.
Long
Range Goals
- Planning:
Develop comprehensive, master and strategic plans which
provide direction for the future operations of the District.
- Recreation
and Educational Programs: Provide quality recreational,
cultural and educational programs and services which meet the needs
of all age groups; and promotes a healthy lifestyle in the community.
- Parks
and recreation Facilities: Plan, finance and develop quality
parks and recreation facilities which meet the diverse leisure needs
of participants in all age groups.
- Public
Relations: Improve the District's image through effective
and proactive public relations. Increase and improve communication
with all participants, visitors and the community. Increase opportunities
for community input.
- Land
Acquisitions: Develop and implement land acquisition and
development plans which gives to the community open spaces and greenways.
- Personnel:
Adequately train, evaluate, support and provide a qualified team
to operate the business of the District at a quality level.
- Finance:
Administer the District finances in a sound and accountable
fiscal manner.
- Customer
Satisfaction: Develop operation systems which assure a high
degree of customer satisfaction.
- Safety:
Provide a safe environment for the District personnel and visitors.
