The Transformation of
Diamond Point Park

August 2009

Diamond Point Park - August 2009

In late August 2009, the Bourbonnais Township Park District acquired 60.5 acres of land just north of Bourbonnais formally known as the Lumber Yard. Upon acquisition of this land, featuring six baseball and softball diamonds as well as a pond, the Bourbonnais Township Park District named this land Diamond Point Park.

Pictured above is Diamond Point Park shortly after its acquisition in August of 2009.

October 2009

Diamond Point Park - October 2009

The Bourbonnais Township Park District set its short term goals of having the fields playable, new bathrooms and a new concession stand by the spring of 2010. Work began immediately in the fall of 2009. Complex Manager, Mike Crews, was hired and began the transformation of Diamond Point Park.

Pictured above is Diamond Point Park after two months of restoration.

During the winter months of 2010, preparations were made for the new bathrooms and concession stand. These new amenities are placed between the four fields on the west end of the Park.

Pictured above are workers digging and pouring the base of the new bathrooms and concession stand.

February 2010

Diamond Sports Complex

The Bourbonnais Township Park District signed a naming rights deal with Diamond Sports. The baseball/softball complex is now called the Diamond Sports Complex.

April 2010

Diamond Point Park - April 2010

In just nine months, Diamond Point Park and the Diamond Sports Complex has a brand new look. The new bathrooms and concession stand were erected in April. Hundreds of feet of cement and sod were laid between fields. The first stages of the transformation of Diamond Point Park are complete.

Concessions

Future plans involve a multitude of recreational activities for the community. Concept drawings include a playground, basketball, tennis and sand volleyball courts, open athletic fields, trails and a boardwalk.
