Klash on the Kankakee

Come and see a American Revolution reenactment and a way of life like you have never seen before! This two-day event will consist of 18th century camp life involving soldiers and their families, food, games, activities, demonstrations, skirmishes (small battles), and major battles. The Reenactment of life in the 18th century shows the struggle between British forces and American Colonists in their fight for independance. Come out and watch the battles, interact with the soldiers and their families and leave with a better understanding of what our Nation went through to win their freedom.

The 2008 Klash on the Kankakee event will take place at the Bourbonnais Township Park District's Perry Farm Park on May 3rd and 4th.

Perry Farm to host 2009 Grand Encampment!
The Bourbonnais Township Park District's Perry Farm Park has been selected as the host site for the Northwest Territory Alliance (NWTA) 2009 Grand Encampment. The Perry Farm Park was in the running amongst three other locations when it won in a landslide vote at the NWTA's November 2007 Board Meeting.
The NWTA is an American Revolutionary War re-enactment organization located in the Midwestern United States. They have over five hundred members from states including Iowa, Ohio, and Tennessee.
Every five years the NWTA celebrates the anniversary of its founding (1974) with a grand encampment. Over the past four years the BTPD has hosted an NWTA event which we have called Klash on the Kankakee. On average there have been approx. 150 re-enactors at Klash on the Kankakee which usually runs the first weekend in May. Grand Encampments averages 700-800 re-enactors.

The NWTA Grand Ecncampment will be held on the 13th and 14th of June, 2009. The Park District is very excited about this great opportunity and we look forward to the event!

Times and pricing are T.B.A. For more information please contact Tom Schelling at (815) 933-9905 ext. 231 or at toms@btpd.org
